- Add the passata, water, sugar and salt and pepper. Simmer for 15min

- Once the sauce has simmered, add chopped basil and simmer for another minute
- Stir in pasta to sauce ensuring all the pasta is covered in sauce
- Pour into oven proof dish (ours is 20x30cm). Top with grated cheese and bread crumps
- Cook for 20min
To the same skillet, over medium heat, add the onion and cook, stirring until softened. Add the hand-crushed tomatoes, chopped basil leaves and a healthy sprinkling of salt and pepper. (The pasta will continue to cook in the oven so you want to undercook it just a bit.) Drain and add the pasta back to the pot. Heat a large sauté pan over medium-high heat. This sausage pasta bake is a delicious comforting dish that is perfect for batch cooking and freezing. Easy to adapt and add lots of vegetables to, it's a simple weeknight dinner that the whole family will love.
